 FAQ

  • What happened to your studio on Oak Park Avenue?

    • After 3 years (and surviving one of the worst retail seasons ever during the pandemic), I decided to take advantage of my expiring lease and move my practice to ViaClay, the community pottery studio I founded in 2020. I’m now enjoying working alongside ViaClay teachers, managers, and members.

  • Do you teach classes?

    • I personally do not teach, but classes for all ages, summer camps for kids, and one-time experience sessions are available at ViaClay, 208 South Marion Street in Oak Park. We have over 4,000 sf for classes and members’ activities at this location. Please visit www.viaclay.com to learn more.

  • Is your work dishwasher/microwave safe?

    • Yes, all ceramic pieces are dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe unless otherwise marked. You should treat my tableware like your everyday dishes.

  • Why are your prices so much less expensive than at other ceramic galleries?

    • I price my pots so that you are more likely to use them every day. I also price my work so that it is more economical to purchase multiple pieces in sets. I hope that when people buy a set of bowls or plates they will replace their mass-produced tableware and enjoy the experience of hand-thrown pottery: nothing's better than a bowl of noodles or homemade soup from a unique piece!

  • What happened to the treadle wheel that was in the window on Oak Park Avenue?

    • My treadle wheel — a foot-powered handmade pottery wheel — is built from a design made popular by Bernard Leach (1887-1979), considered the "father of British studio pottery." I love working the clay at a slower, more controlled rotation. My personal studio space is now on the lower level of ViaClay — email me if you would like a demonstration!
